Kathmandu: Senior tourism entrepreneur and social activist Tejendra Sharma Poudel has been appointed as the Honorary Consul General of the Nation of Hawaii (Principally within the United States of America). He was appointed by the minister of the foreign affair of Hawaii state Hon. Youcef IHADDADEN. After his appointment minister IHADDADEN has stated ‘Know ye, that I, Youcef IHADDADEN, Minister of Foreign Affairs of State of the Independent & Sovereign - Nation of Hawai’i reposing special trust and confidence in the integrity and ability of Tejendra Sharma Poudel to discharge truly and faithfully the duties of Honorary Consul General of the Nation of Hawai’i have, and with the consent of the people the nation itself constituted and appointed, and by these presents do constitute and appoint the Tejendra Sharma POUDEL as Honorary Consul General of the Nation of Hawai’i with all rights, privileges, and emoluments legally appertaining to said office until otherwise ordered. In testimony whereof, I have caused the Seal of the Nation of Hawai’i to be affixed, Given under my hand this day of Jan 20 in the year of our Lord Two Thousand and Twenty-Two‘.

Expressing happiness over his appointment as the Consul General to Nepal of Hawaii in the United States of America, Poudel expressed his heartfelt commitment to take the fraternal relations between Nepal and Hawaii to new heights and to work for the development of Nepal's tourism and bilateral relations. He also said that he would continue to make meaningful efforts for the benefit of both Nations. Stating about his focus concern Poudel said that would move forward in attracting as many tourists as possible to Nepal, doing other potential trades, and promoting Nepal's rural areas in the world, he said that the village aims to work in the cultural, traditional, and historical aspects through Tourism Nepal (VITOUN).

Who is Poudel?

Tejendra Sharma Poudel is a reputed businessman of Nepal. He has been active in this field for the last 30 years. He was born in 2030 B.S. His father's name is Hem Sharma Poudel and his mother's name is Hem Kumari Poudel. Poudel is a graduate of the Faculty of Humanities from Trichandra College under Tribhuvan University. Poudel, who is also the National President of Village Tourism-Nepal (VITOUN), is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Across World Travel Pvt. Ltd., the President and Chief Executive Officer of Asia Nepal Holiday Pvt. Poudel is also the His Grace Consul Ukraine-Rus for Nepal and honorary consul of New Spain to Nepal. He is also the Senior Adviser to the United Peace Keepers Federal Council (UNPKFC) HQ Thailand.

He has also been working as an ambassador for the Kurodaiya International Federation in the Netherlands. Poudel was appointed by the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal as a member of the organizing committee of Nepal Tourism Year 2020. Just last month, he was awarded the UNPKFC Humanitarian Leadership Award at the international level.

Poudel is considered to be an outspoken speaker. Advent temperament and fearlessness are his strengths. A close family member of former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa, he is equally close to Nepal's royal family and the Rana family. However, he wants to introduce himself as an independent thinker and nationalist rather than being associated with anything. He considers his father as his role model. He says that he bows down to the hard work of his father who is working in a military hospital.
