Pokhara,  April 4, 2026 | On the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, the Gandaki Province Chamber of Commerce organized the “International Business Experience Exchange Program,” which was successfully held with great enthusiasm and participation. The program was conducted under the chief guestship of Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, Coordinator of the Nepal Chamber Diamond Jubilee Ceremony and former President, and witnessed the notable presence of business leaders, entrepreneurs, and key stakeholders.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Shrestha emphasized that the operationalization of the Korala border point has opened up significant prospects for expanding trade in western Nepal. He stated, “The Korala border represents a strategic gateway for strengthening trade relations with China. It is now imperative that we move beyond traditional trade routes and embrace new corridors to build a more competitive and resilient trade environment.”

Highlighting the opportunities created by the Korala transit point, he noted that imports from China could be effectively facilitated through this route. He further expressed his commitment, along with that of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, to actively pursue initiatives that would enhance trade connectivity and ease cross-border commerce.

Shrestha also urged the business community to diversify their import channels by utilizing Kolkata and other international seaports, thereby accelerating overall trade activities. He underscored the importance of strengthening supply chains, minimizing operational costs, and simplifying trade procedures to better integrate Nepal into regional and global markets.

He further remarked, “Comprehensive policy reforms, robust infrastructure development, and the expansion of digital systems are essential to improving the ease of doing business. To remain competitive in the global market, Nepal must prioritize quality, innovation, and reliability.”

Additionally, Shrestha highlighted the value of active participation in international trade fairs in countries such as India, China, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka, noting that such engagements would provide Nepali entrepreneurs with access to new markets, advanced technologies, and potential partnerships. He also reaffirmed the commitment of the International Chamber of Commerce Nepal to facilitate and promote international trade.

He stressed that establishing strong trade relations with foreign markets is a crucial factor in achieving long-term business success.

Speaking on Pokhara’s tourism potential, Shrestha pointed out that attracting tourists from highly populous countries like China and India could significantly boost the local and national economy. He emphasized the need to expand both domestic and international air connectivity and to ensure the optimal utilization of airport infrastructure.

He also informed that the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, established in 1950 (2007 B.S.), has been consistently representing the private sector and advocating for the rights and interests of entrepreneurs and businesspersons for the past 75 years.

Similarly, Kisan Sunar, President of the Chamber of Commerce Gandaki, stated that the organization has not only been advocating for the rights of the business community but has also been actively contributing to social development initiatives. Referring to the current political landscape, he stressed that the government must introduce investor-friendly policies and programs, along with a budget that enhances the confidence of the private sector.

Highlighting the significant opportunities available to the new government, he further emphasized the need for the formulation of business-friendly laws to foster a conducive investment environment.

The program also featured interactive sessions on global market trends, import-export prospects, innovation, and strategic approaches to business expansion.

The event was moderated by Devaraj Sharma, General Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce Gandaki, and saw participation from businesspersons, industrialists, experts, and representatives from district chambers including Baglung, Parbat, Tanahun, Syangja, and Pokhara.

According to the organizers, the primary objective of the program was to connect member businesses with international markets, promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences, and identify new avenues for trade and investment.
